INKTOBER 2018: Guarded, Day 13

Art and Poem by Miguel Guerreiro Lourenço

Heavily inspired by a Pathfinder piece of artwork featuring a dwarf with a shield and Mignola's art direction in Atlantis: Lost Empire, today's Inktober prompt was super fun to make a reality. As for the poem, I was influenced by the pain some people go through, and still endure. I am very proud of those people. Below is the transcription:

look at her shield

see the dents, how deep

they go; and the

scratches from daemons

she swore never to

tell you about.

no matter how beaten,

no matter how hurt

she got, she always

rose her shield.

i'm proud of her.
